Select-Arc Inc. (www.select-airccom) developed a metal-cored electrode for welding cast irons to steel alloys and carbon steels. Select 2216-C features an alloy that is 41 percent nickel and includes stabilizers. The company says the weld metal's tensile strength is in the 90,000 psi range and provides 15 percent elongation, which makes it a tough and ductile alloy for cast irons.
