Hobart Brothers (www.hobartbrothers.com) developed its Metalloy Vantage D2 (AWS E90C-D2) for welding high-strength, low-alloy steels. The company says the gas-shielded, metal-core wire improves productivity and reduced end-users' welding costs by providing higher deposition rates and faster travel speeds that equivalent ER80-S-D@ solid wires. The company says the wire produces weld toe lines with minimal silicon deposits and spatter, so pre-weld preparation and postweld cleanup are reduced.
